Taiwanese
Play Salon

Taiwanese Play Salon explores the formative eras of local drama, tracing a path from the 1920s to the 1980s. By diving into the plays of these five decades, we offer playwrights a detailed look at the first sparks between Taiwan and modern theatre, and how the stage once mirrored political, social, and cultural intricacies on the island.

Over the course of a year, this program invites writers to transform historical insight into creative inspiration. We look back at where modern Taiwanese theatre began to better understand where it is headed next.
