Mission & Values

Mission
Every play begins with a prologue.
In January 2024, the Prologue Center for New Plays was founded—the first play development organization in Taiwan. We are dedicated to nurturing local playwrights, supporting new works, and bringing Taiwanese voices to the international stage. Prologue is an incubator for plays, a training ground for talent, and a laboratory for new narratives and reimagined worldviews.
When the prologue unfolds, a play becomes more than a performance—it becomes a journey of discovery. Audiences are invited to see the world with fresh eyes, to reexamine society and culture, to reflect on their place in time, and to ask: What does it mean to be human? And who am I?
The word Prologue symbolizes the beginning of thought and conversation. Here, creativity is reborn, voices intertwine, cultures intersect, and an ongoing dialogue with the world begins.
As the curtain rises anew, Taiwanese theatre steps into a bold and promising prologue.
Vision
The Prologue Center for New Plays envisions an inclusive and dynamic future for theatre—one where Taiwanese playwrights thrive in an artistic home that nurtures bold, expansive voices. Through our developmental programs, international connections, and a commitment to cultural equity, we aim to foster a vibrant, all-accommodating space that uplifts the diverse stories of Taiwan and connects them to the wider Asia-Pacific and global stage.
