Yu-Hsuan Chou
Yu-Hsuan Chou holds an MA in Chinese Opera from National Central University and currently teaches Chinese Literature at the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts. Drawing profound inspiration from the aesthetics of Jingju (Peking Opera) and Kunqu, Chou began her journey in playwriting in 2011. Her creative practice has since expanded through her participation in prestigious programs, including Our Theatre’s Farm of Plays, Musical Theater Training Project at the Taipei Performing Arts Center, and the writers group at the Prologue Center for New Plays.
Her plays have been recognized by Creative Writing Awards, the Ministry of Education and the Jindouyun Script Incubator (筋斗云創劇本創投平臺). Notably, she has been a two-time nominee for Best Playwright at the Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music for her acclaimed works Water Ghosts Theatre (水鬼請戲) and The Life of Du (杜子春).
