Yang Er

If we sit on a motorcycle and wait through five fifty-second red lights, we have spent 250 seconds—roughly four minutes—doing nothing, drifting four minutes closer to death.

Still a theatre major specializing in video design at National Taiwan University, Yang Er has spent twenty-four years lingering in this world. To date, they have crafted video designs for productions ranging from thirty minutes to three hours in length—yet they remain merely a common screw in the theatrical machine, turning simply for the sake of survival.

Amidst the mundane hustle for a livelihood shared by all, there remains a persistent urge to speak during those forced intervals of stillness. This impulse is what defines The Yang-Er Series Project.
